About Perris, California

Perris is a city in Riverside County within the Inland Empire metropolitan area of Southern California. The City is most widely recognized for having many choices involving aerial activities, such as skydiving and hot-air ballooning.

The City, which turned 100 years old in 2011, began as a sleepy farming community on the California Pacific Railroad line. It is named in honor of Fred T. Perris, chief engineer of the California Southern Railroad. The California Southern connected through the city in the 1880s to build a rail connection between the present day cities of Barstow and San Diego. The City was officially incorporated in 1911.

The City is known for Lake Perris, which hosts a variety of flora and fauna. Lake Perris is an artificial lake completed in 1973. It is situated in the mountain-rimmed valley between Moreno Valley and Perris, in what is now the Lake Perris State Recreation Area.
