About Jurupa Valley, California

Jurupa Valley is a city in Riverside County, California with a population of 109,527 as of July 1, 2019.

The City of Jurupa Valley was incorporated in July 2011 by community volunteers. With its incorporation, it has become the 482nd city in California and the 28th city in Riverside County. The reason for the merger was the community’s strong desire to improve the police services and local control over planning and zoning issues.

The name Jurupa was derived from the first inhabitants of the area called “Jurupa,” their home. The city lies at the territorial boundaries of two different tribes, namely the Gabrielino Tribe and the Serrano Tribe. The City today is a mix of high and low-density residential areas, rural farming, and a combination of agricultural, commercial, and industrial activity. It has a significant capacity for expansion of both residential and commercial development in the future.
