About Paradise, California

Incorporated on 1979, the Town of Paradise is nestled in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Located on a ridge with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 2800 feet above sea level, Paradise is twelve miles east of Chico and ninety miles north of Sacramento. The town is spread out on a wide ridge between deep canyons formed by the west branch of the Feather River to the east and Butte Creek to the west. The Paradise area extends northward to include the unincorporated town of Magalia, as well as Stirling City, eleven miles north.

With over 26,000 residents, the Town of Paradise is the second largest city in Butte County.  Residents and visitors enjoy tall pines and majestic oaks, cooler summertime temperatures, occasional winter snowfalls, and an engaging environment.  Rich in history, innate beauty, and friendly people, Paradise is a fantastic place to raise a family, build a business, or just relax for a weekend in the pines.
