About Pico Rivera, California

Pico Rivera is a thriving community of about 62,942 that offers opportunities to all who live, work and relax in the city.

Formed through the merging of two historic communities, Pico and Rivera, the City was officially incorporated in January 1958 as the 61st city in Los Angeles County. Called Sejat by Native Americans who believed that the world began in the area where the city is now, Pico Rivera today has changed from its original forested and bucolic state into an urban region easily accessible by car.

Within the City’s nine square miles, more than 120 acres are devoted to recreational uses, including just under 100 acres of local parks. A variety of regional entertainment and sporting venues, along with beach and mountain areas, are also located within easy driving distance.
