About Long Beach, California

The city of Long Beach is located approximately 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and is a part of the Gateway Cities region. Long Beach is the 7th most populous city in California with a total population of 430,000 according to the 2010 census.

Long Beach is popular for its shipping port. The Port of the City is the second busiest container port in the United States, and it is among the world’s largest shipping ports.

Because it is near the beach, the City is well known for its waterfront attractions. Thousands of residents and visitors flock to the permanently docked RMS Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. From eclectic neighborhoods to sandy beaches, Long Beach is an urban waterfront playground.

The City also hosts the Grand Prix of Long Beach. One of the largest universities of California is also located in the city, The California State University of Long Beach.
